JDR Cables Opens Maintenance Facility in Macaé

040-B U.S. Pavillion 3

Over the last two decades, JDR Cables has grown to become a leader in its industry, specializing in the design and production of subsea umbilicals, power cables, and Intervention Work-over Control Systems (IWOCS). A result of a merger between the world-renowned companies Jacques Cable Systems (UK) and De Regt Special Cable (The Netherlands), JDR has proven itself a trusted, reliable partner in subsea production and renewable energy systems.

JDR’s success is rooted in innovation of reliable and cost-saving technologies, global expansion, and track record of highly successful and complex subsea projects. Its self-supporting IWOC systems have the ability to sustain more weight and allow companies like Chevron to install Christmas trees in just eight hours, a feat that would normally take three to four days.

JDR recently announced the opening of a new service and maintenance facility in Macaé at the end of 2014. This new state-of-the-art facility will have a high percentage of local content.

“We are sourcing all of our people in Brazil. We won't run it with expats, we will run it with a local management team,” affirmed JDR Chairman Pat Herbert.

JDR knows it can contribute in Brazil and is making this move to increase support to its established and potential clients operating in the region. JDR is confident that its technology can help Brazilian companies improve their functionality.

Mr. Herbert expanded, “Petrobras has approximately 300 trees to install in the near future; that translates to about 900 flying leads and JDR, already on the approved vendor list, is ready to contribute to the success of those installations.”

Mr. Herbert went on to explain how the timing is perfect for JDR to expand in Brazil with its new facility. A long-term vision for the company is to have a production umbilical factory, demonstrating JDR’s commitment to grow with Brazil as the market expands.
