The Inside Scoop: The small, easterly province of Newfoundland and Labrador is home to two major institutes of higher education: Memorial University of Newfoundland and College of the North Atlantic, the latter of which has 17 campuses across the province and one in Qatar. Memorial University of Newfoundland, the largest university in Atlantic Canada, boasts a diverse student body with a significant percentage of international students.

In addition to the province’s two major post-secondary institutes, international students may choose to study at one of the 25 private career colleges. Many students also come for English and French language programs. All international students in Newfoundland and Labrador are provided health insurance.

Why Newfoundland & Labrador: The mostly English-speaking province boasts a relatively high GDP, a comfortable quality of living, and one of Canada’s most unique geographies. Newfoundland and Labrador includes thousands of small islands and a multitude of marine-related opportunities, including a thriving aquaculture industry and offshore oilfield development.
