The Inside Scoop: With 20 public universities, 24 colleges, and more than 400 private career colleges, international students coming to Ontario to study will be hard-pressed to find a program that is not offered in Canada’s most populated province. Scholarship opportunities for foreign students are generous, such as the Ontario Trillium Scholarship, which grants outstanding doctoral students from around the world CAD $40,000 per year for up to 4 years.

From the Ministry’s Office: “In 2014, Ontario opened a new International Marketing Centre in São Paulo, Brazil. The launch of the São Paulo office demonstrates our long-term commitment to Brazil as we expand and diversify Ontario’s international profile, including the postsecondary education sector. In 2013-14, approximately 920 full-time students from Brazil were studying in Ontario colleges and universities, including almost 650 undergraduate students and 67 PhD students. This is up from just over 200 students in 2009.” – May Nazar, Communications Branch, Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
