The Inside Scoop: The Ministry of Advanced Education networks with Saskatchewan’s many unique institutes of higher education to create a welcoming environment for international students. The province is known for low unemployment rates, with many opportunities in the oil and gas and mining sectors. International students who choose to stay after graduation can receive tax refunds of up to $20,000 in tuition.

 

The Saskatchewan Strategy: The province’s recently-announced Post-Secondary International Education Strategy strives to strengthen international connections, foster research partnerships, and facilitate student and faculty exchange between Saskatchewan and the world. The government has stated three main objectives for this strategy:

 

1.   Increase global engagement by increasing the number of Saskatchewan students studying abroad by 50%.

 

2.    Bring the world to Saskatchewan by increasing the number of international students studying in Saskatchewan by 75%.

 

3.   Grow global research partnerships by increasing the number and value of international research partnerships.
