Debatin sees Brazil as one of the key markets for expansion. Exports currently account for 40% of sales, and Debatin aims to increase this figure to 60% over the next few years. Since 2012, Debatin has a licensed partnership with the Santa Catarina-based plastic packaging company, Videplast. Through this cooperation, Videplast is authorized and able to purchase DEBATAPE, a security tape it uses to manufacture security bags for the local market.

Mr. Rose explained that he would like Brazilian authorities to understand that picking the lower cost products could affect the safety of the values being handled and “that is not our understanding of security at Anton Debatin. The value of notes and coins or valuables in a bag is higher, so that's why we want to make it secure.”

When it comes to security, quality is everything, and this gives Debatin an edge over competitors. With a low quality bag, it is easy for criminals to remove the contents without visibly tampering with the packaging. “In the end,” affirmed Mr. Rose, “inefficient quality is only going to cost more.”

The applicability of DEBASAFE™ security bags is not limited to the security market.  Alongside banks, retailers, and supermarkets, the medical industry and duty-free sellers can also benefit from Debatin products. With raised awareness about the advantages of its products along with expansion in its target market through partnership with Videplast, Debatin sees great potential for growth in Brazil.
