ARKU Brings Innovative Response to Quality Expectations in Brazil

October 3, 2014

Founded in 1928 as a family-owned business based in Baden-Baden, Germany, ARKU stands as experts in leveling of sheet metal parts and coils. The company has become the worldwide market leader in leveling and feed equipment in which it focuses on delivering its high-end levelers and coil lines to customers all over the world.

ARKU’s two business units provide unique solutions to different industries. “Coil lines are expert tailored solutions, whereas parts leveling is a stand-alone machine business,” explained Alexandra Schuldt, Marketing Communications Manager.

Both business units enable greater reliability in production, in which Precision Leveling focuses on the construction industry while the Coil Lines concentrates on the automotive industry. Nevertheless, both of these business units deliver their solutions to many other markets such as the railway, aerospace, laser job shops, steel service center and many more.

Today, ARKU sees Brazil as a key market. Marcus Bartle head of the Coil Lines business unit explained, “We have worked together with clients in the construction industry and are prepared to bring this quality, expertise and experience to the Brazilian market.”

Andreas Hellriegel who is head of the Precision Leveling Unit at ARKU is also looking to the company’s future in Brazil:

“Our vision is that one day we have our own demo center, where customers can bring their own parts and experience the great performance of our levelers for themselves. We already have local sales teams and service stations in Brazil, which is unique for a German leveling machine manufacturer.”

Automotive trends point towards the increase in production of cars that are more fuel-efficient, as they are made with lighter steel. Mr. Bartle explained, “These vehicles, which are produced with very strong and thin steel, are very hard to handle by other levelers, except ARKU’s.”

Mr. Hellriegel also pointed out that ARKU’s customers save money: “The customers who have used our roller levelers can offer unique quality to their customers as they save time while also reducing waste material in their production.”

ARKU first targeted the Brazilian market ten years ago, but Mr. Hellriegel acknowledged that the company has ways to go within this segment. “There are many industries and markets in Brazil. Everybody who has to do with laser cutting, plasma cutting, bending, or robot welding makes an interesting target group for us,” continued Mr. Hellriegel, “It´s a continuously growing market for us, on which we have certainly spent more energy due to its importance.
