October 3, 2014

To best serve its customers, Mercedes-Benz is present in all regions of Brazil, to provide after-sales services in a consistent fashion wherever the need arises. Mr. Schiemer explained, “Our trucks travel all over the country, up to 2,000 or 3.000 kilometers. If they have a problem, we need our service centers to be available.”

Focus on quality and reliability results  more than 20-year average age for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. These factors are of particular importance for long-range trucks in Brazil, where significant distances must be covered.

“We have a long history of reinventing and improving ourselves,” said Philipp Schiemer, President of Mercedes-Benz Brazil and CEO of Daimler Latin America. “We offer products in all automotive segments and are known globally for quality, security, reliability, and comfort.”

Indeed, in 2014 Mercedes-Benz has launched 40 innovations for its truck products. “We are always working on our customer satisfaction index,” said Mr. Schiemer. “We are continually updating our products and working to be a leader in the automotive segment.”

Constant innovation is a key value for Daimler, which created Hydraulic Breaks, Antilock Breaks, and the Electronic Stability Program, among many other inventions. The revolutionary Autonomous Drive and Active Safety systems already used in Daimler passenger cars, in the future could  be available for trucks in the Brazilian market as well.

Mercedes has immediate plans for further expansion in Brazil. Mr. Schiemer said, “We are investing 500 million Reals in our new passenger car plants which will begin producing cars by the end of 2015-2016. We also have a strong  investment program (2.5 billions reais)  for commercial vehicles between 2010- 2015, where we are modernizing our plants and investing in new products.”

“Daimler has always reinvented itself throughout its long history,” Mr. Schiemer concluded. “This is how we are leading in nearly all our industry segments.”

Daimler Auto Group (Daimler AG) has been producing quality automotive vehicles for 58 years in Brazil, with expansions in multiple sectors planned for 2014. Daimler’s main presence in Brazil is Mercedes-Benz, providing trucks, buses chassis  and personal vehicles besides  buses for the country’s rapid transport systems.

Daimler boasts more than 8,000 sales outlets around the world, with representation in every country and more than 125 years of experience in the industry.

Brazil is the largest market in the world for Mercedes-Benz trucks, including all weight segments of the industry. A new production facility for passenger cars for the C-class and new sports utility vehicles - GLA is planned for the coming year in Iracemápolis near São Paulo.

“Brazil is a very important market for us,” said Mr. Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil & Daimler Latin America, who has lived here for almost fifteen years. “Brazil is also a kind of second home country for me.”
