The Embassy of Brazil in the United States

August 14, 2014

With embassies in 138 countries, Brazil’s global representatives play an active role in promoting and facilitating relations between Brazil and the rest of the world. In addition to providing numerous support services for Brazilians who are working, studying, and living in the U.S., and encouraging Americans to study in Brazil, the Embassy of Brazil in the United States is responsible for building a network of future leaders committed to meaningful Brazil-U.S. partnerships and academic collaboration.

The embassy plays an important role in the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program, and views the program as a strategy to internationalize the Brazilian education system and help stimulate research and development in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) in Brazil.

The administration of the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program requires the engagement of the Embassy of Brazil with partners such as the Institute of International Education (IIE) and Brazilian Consulates in the United States; as well as CAPES and CNPq in Brazil.  By linking students with academic work experiences – such as internships within the private sector – the embassy enables students to take full advantage of the wealth of opportunities available during their program in the United States.

“The Brazil Scientific Mobility Program benefits both countries and brings two education systems together. The internationalization process is happening as we speak. We truly believe that the students will contribute to that,” said Ms. Maricy Schmitz from the Education Sector of the Embassy of Brazil in the United States.
